Idea
Unfortunately, no Country in the world may avoid such tragedies, as floods, fires, war, terrorist acts; in these tragedies are clearly seen the heroic acts of people, who sacrifice themselves in the name of other people’s salvation, and most of all in the name of the salvation of children, who represent the future of our generations.
The colonnade, with an asymmetrically torn up ring and with column fragments, symbolizes the ring of tragedies, from which man tries to save other people. Through the entry, in the yard, the whole colonnade can be seen. The whole space of the complex is divided in two parts… in the same way the Road to Salvation is built.
The “Saviour” figure in the colonnade and the fragments of this seven figure composition beyond the colonnade limits create a complex that makes us admire also other aspects of the Idea, makes us see the composition’s tragicalness on a different hypostasis, in the form of fragments of figures … (similarly to the fragments of ancient statues…), since too many could not be saved…
Sources on the columns, as jets of water that flow down, like candles with water in place of fire, help us share the grief and the loss, and make us bend to drink the water in memory of all the victims.
The Saviour’s image expresses those magnificence and strength that give hope and faith, and, in spite of all, give us the optimism to live on.
