DANAE - GOLDEN RAIN
The gold of autumn creates the unrepeatable atmosphere of myth and poetry of the statue of Danae, which could be incorporated in the style of the city, in the middle of the surrounding environment.
Myth and reality, harmony between man and his surrounding nature find a whole unity in Nelson Afian's sculpture project.
The classical theme, the masterly performance, the new idea in the subject's interpretation enlighten and express eternal themes with contemporary means and technologies. Danae's gesture is an embracement of God. It's brining us back to the times when Danae's father, knowing the prophecy, locked her in the tower. God came down to her in the form of golden rain and she concieved a son who would save mankind from evil (Medusa), in future times.
Danae should be modeled in bronze and gold, which would appear symbolic of the chosen theme: the Golden rain. The Golden rain in the shape of the fountain will symbolize prosperity, culture and the magnificence of Art, as well as representing the beauty and power of the city.
